Time to Grow Up
I don't know how many people can relate to this, but recently the quarter here at the wonderful University of Washington has started and the campus is being flooded with freshmen. I was doing what I do every quarter and traveled over to the university bookstore to scout out prices for the textbooks I need. The place was creepy crawling with freshmen, but one caught my eye. It was this poor freshmen book shopping with his mother who had what appeared to be the largest smile I have ever seen on another human being. He on the other hand, had no such smile. But more of an awkward shameful grin with full knowledge his dear mother was kicking him off to college in the worst way possible. To further paint this picture for you, I would not have been surprised if she held his hand to guide him through the confusing aisles of textbooks. It was bad my friends. Real bad. I asked myself the question, why would you ever bring your mom along on such an errand. Whats next? Having your mom tell the lady cutting your hair at supercuts the style you prefer? Having her order your diet coke at Red Robin? If there was ever a time to draw the line in the stand, college is the time. Your setting yourself up for failure my friend. Failure.
